Programmatic Media Buyer

The Role:

The Programmatic Media Buyer is responsible for leading the development and execution of successful programmatic online marketing programs. You will provide thought leadership on campaign strategies and optimization; build strong relationships and establish clear lines of communication with partners and internal staff members. The Programmatic Media Buyer will utilize previous media planning/buying experience and understanding of media channels, ad exchanges, DSPs, data, creative, analytics, Google Ads, etc. to execute display and mobile campaigns across multiple verticals(sites). This position presents the opportunity to showcase your digital knowledge and act as a digital strategist for many sites and will be the go-to person for Programmatic Media campaign execution.

Responsibilities

The Programmatic Media Buyer is analytical and uses problem-solving capabilities to assure flawless program execution to meet and exceed stated objectives:

  • Execute, manage, and optimize online media campaigns and programs (e.g., auction/exchange based performance media, audience-based buying, remarketing campaigns) while meeting or surpassing performance expectations
  • 80% Buying and Optimization:
    • Oversee planning, buying, and optimization of programmatic media
    • Socialize and document campaign structure, optimizations, and learnings
    • Represent programmatic team in internal meetings with planning and analytics teams
    • Collaborate with DSP and publisher partners to negotiate, troubleshoot, and execute buys
  • 20% Training, Process Implementation & Best-Practice Development

    • Implement and build on best practices for bidding, budget management, ad operations, and reporting

    • Train and develop Junior Programmatic Buyer

    • Educate internally and externally on DSP functionality, results, and optimizations

  • Manage the delivery of creative assets, insertion orders, campaign artifacts, and all relevant campaign documentation in preparation for campaign launch

  • Identify reporting and data discrepancies and support processes for quality assurance

  • Evaluate data fields from multiple sources and design reporting dashboards highlighting key performance indicators

  • Design reporting templates and dashboards that can be systematically produced and scalable across multiple campaigns

  • Interpret data sets and produce data cuts for optimization towards campaign goals

  • Participate in and inform research efforts, where applicable

  • Test and roll out new product offerings

  • Participate in regular knowledge share sessions to share and learn new products and solutions

    You Today:

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree, emphasis in Marketing, Advertising or Business preferred 

    • 3+ years related work experience in digital and/or programmatic marketing

    • 3+ years experience with digital media planning and/or buying preferred

    • Experience utilizing ad serving platforms

    • Experience with Google Ads

    • A self-starter with a strong work ethic and attention to detail

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced and always changing environment

    • Plan, implement, manage, measure, and report on all programmatic campaigns • Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities

    • Collaborative approach/attitude

    • Experience with 3rd Party data providers such as Oracle

    Requirements

      keep up with trends

    Preferred Skills & Experience

    • 4+ years of hands-on programmatic buying experience
    • Proven ability to develop/implement/improve business processes
    • Proven ability to thrive in highly collaborative work environments and maintains attention to detail
    • Advanced user of at least two DSPs
    • Eagerness to work on the disruptive side of the business, with new DSP technologies
    • Strong knowledge of statistical concepts relevant to optimization, as well as scientific testing in live media environments
    • Experience managing or mentoring junior employees
    • Expert knowledge of Google Analytics is a plus
