Software Development Engineering Intern

The Role:

We are looking for Software Engineering Interns to join the What If Media Group team to help build our ad-tech and direct marketing software systems. Our platform is built primarily using React, Java, Node.js, and PHP 7 on top of AWS infrastructure. Our Engineering Division is a fully remote organization, though some teams meet up for collaborative workweeks at our Fort Lee HQ once per quarter. Help us build, test, and deploy software systems that power websites with millions of visits per day and a direct marketing system that delivers tens of millions of messages per day driving hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenue for us and our clients.

Your Responsibilities:

Code in a subset of Java, React, Node.js, and PHP to evolve our software systems and infrastructure
Update and optimize interactions between a variety of microservices and our databases
Design tests that ensure our applications are highly performant, scalable, and responsive
Build business-critical technology solutions with a direct impact on revenue

You Today:

Education & Experience

A current student graduating between Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a STEM-related discipline
Prior professional experience (internship, research, co-op, etc.)

Skills:

Required

Experience with one or more of the following languages: Java, Node.js, and PHP
Familiarity with a modern front-end framework like React, Angular, or Vue.js
Familiarity with automated testing platforms and building unit/integrations tests
Exposure to cloud computing services and concepts
Exposure to relational databases
Proficiency with source control tools, such as Git
Strong analytical, quantitative, and deductive reasoning skills
